PKHeX(if you're using Homebrew) can do everything that Powersaves does, but better and it can do a lot of stuff that Powersaves cannot do.

It's a good thing that they'll all be free in a week(Litten Pack in 2 days and Popplio Pack in 7). If you were "lucky" enough, you had to pay a total of $6+ if you wanted all the codes for both Sun and Moon.

Pikachu Pack(the first set of code these are free now), Litten Pack(includes IV codes, all Berry Codes, all TMs, Quick Hatch eggs ) and Popplio Pack(includes Nature codes, all Z Crystals, Sex Modifiers, Battle Points). The thing is that they did this "nice" thing called packs that you need to pay for each one to get access to the codes while the codes are on Powersaves Prime. I usually don't mind it since if I have no codes for the first 30 or so days, it let's me beat the game legit without being tempted to cheat. Long Answer: Datel is doing this "cute" thing called Powersave Prime.

To see the benifits and how to set it up go to r/3dshacks for more information. You can go for custom firmware and never lose access to homebrew/PKHeX.

can't pokegen ( gen6 can afaik but it's pita to do ).limited in what it can do ( can't edit gen1-5, pokegen, make pokemon shiny with out changing important data etc.it cost money, and the packs for s/m also cost more money besides the hardware.if you brick the cart you can't get a new one and upload the save back up to that cart.save is encrypted, so incompatible with PKHeX.Get a different cable it comes with so it doesn't happen. As for your original question: Powersaves: If you want to know more about homebrew I'll answer questions. Its as simple as copying files to the sd card and playing a music file. with homebrew you can also edit straight on your 3ds without a computer. So you can borrow some else's save file and use it or change from physical to digital. It works with digital and physical carts. Homebrew allows you to get your save file and then use PKHeX to edit the save. Your question should be powersaves vs PKHeX because homebrew does not edit pokemon, PKHeX does. That said, I think I'm gonna go set up homebrew now.lol If you're not super comfortable with them and don't want to deal with the nuances of making your pokemon legal, powersaves works well enough. Long story short, if you're good with computers, get PkHex/Homebrew. I've heard of people bricking their games (and it's unlikely you'll be able to use your backup saves to restore to a new cartridge), but I've used powersaves pretty extensively on X, Y, OR, and Sun with no such problems.

PkHex is a hassle to get set up and is the only reason I haven't yet.but I'm starting to think I should because of how much faster it is once everything is set up.Ĭons of powersave other than no gen7 genning: everything takes forever to do, you must connect to the powersaves server in order to use the software, they have a paywall to get codes a month before they are 'released' (to include IV/nature edits for the next couple of weeks), and did I mention it takes forever to do anything? You can really only get one pokemon ready at a time because right now some of the key codes only apply to the pokemon in box 1 slot 1. It can gen in ORAS but not really in generation 7. Powersaves is quite simple to set up and get going, but takes much longer to do the actual editing of pokemon. As a powersaves user that hasn't gotten into PkHex:
